While You Wait
If water is still coming in, shut off the supply at the main if you can reach it safely, and move what you can out of the affected area — particularly anything on the floor and anything with a plug on it.
Do not pull up flooring, open walls or throw anything away yet. What looks like rubbish is documentation, and your adjuster will want to see the damage in place. Photograph everything before it moves.
If you are not sure whether something is safe to touch, leave it and ask us when we call.
